Guild Rules - Basics [by Arathes]

Guild Information:: Guild Rules - Basics
The idea behind the Order of Azeroth is to build a guild for mature players by focusing on the social nature of WOW. We therefore want to ask all guild members to comply with the following very basic rules:

(1) All guild members should behave in a sensible, mature, friendly and helpful manner towards other guild members as well as other players you meet in-game.

(2) Lies, deception, obscenity, and rudeness that go beyond the bounds of acceptable jokes, and discrimination on any grounds is forbidden and will not be tolerated. We are not necessarily 'politically correct', but we certainly do not associate ourselves with those who lack honour/integrity, those who are disrespectful, or those who are insensitive towards other people's feelings/beliefs.

(3) Greed and dishonourable in-game conduct is forbidden and will not be tolerated. We will not recruit or retain those who 'buy' WOW gold or WOW accounts. Similarly, we will not tolerate those who practice 'ninja' looting, or those who randomly beg strangers for gold.

Guild Rule: Raid looting policy [by Istra]

Guild Information:: Guild Rule: Raid looting policy
Raid loot:

Examples given in this document might be a bit dated, as it has stayed largely unchanged since pre-TBC.

As long as it isn't replaced, it's still the policy of TOoA tho!

DKP

We have no intention of introducing a DKP system at all.

We believe that everyone who takes part in a raid should be entitled to roll on their class drops, regardless of how long they have been in the guild, or regardless of how frequently they have attended raids in the past; if you attend more raids, you simply have more chance to roll, it's as simple as that!

We believe that this is the fairest and simplest way of dealing with loots in raid instances, in light of our ethos and ideals.

Therefore, in Raids, we are using the same basic policy as above, with some slight modifications. This is the basic rules on wich we base all raid encounters, but there might be situational variances. Ask your RL if you are unsure of how things work:

One need roll per raid:

You can Need and win one time per raid.
If you roll need, and do not win, you are entitled to roll need on future drops until you win something.
Of course if you do win, you cannot roll need again that night.
Need rolls can only be used for your main character and main spec.

To try and help our guild members gear up at a reasonable pace, we have introduced the concept of a 'second' need roll. If there are no need rolls, the master looter will open the floor for second need rolls, this is for main characters and main specs who have already used their need roll.

If noone wants an item bad enough to use their need-roll on it, everyone who can and will use the item, are entitled to roll greed on it, this includes alts and offspecs
If noone greeds the item should be DE'ed, and the materials sent to guildbank.

Raid rolls reset after every night of raiding, for example if we run the start of a raid instance on a Thursday night and finish it on sunday night, you will be entitled to one need roll on Thursday and one need roll on Sunday.

Master Loot system before Farm status:

We urge you to respect what would be best for the raid in close call situations. Items that are extremely useful to a specific class/build but only fairly useful to others should be passed on in favor of those putting the item to better use in the current raid. It will drop again, and you can get it later (Example, A great shield drops, all warriors and palladins can use it, but we encourage you to pass on it in favor of the Tanks, so that the item will serve the raid/guild better).
In the early stages of new encounters we will monitor this more actively, Raid leaders will turn Master loot on and make suggestions as to who should roll on an item.

The Master looter is usually an Officer and the Master looters decision is final ;)

There may also be encounter specific exceptions or additions to the overall policy. For example in MC (before Farm) we let the MT have "First need". This basically means that if the MT needed something, it was his/hers. The MT still only had one need per raid though.
The reason for this exception is that well geared tanks made a huge difference in MC, and if by getting the MT's geared early, it resulted in more boss kills faster for all of us.

Any such exceptions will be clearly stated ahead of time.

Group loot while farming:
When we have cleared a raid boss enough times, it will be considered to be on "Farm". When this is the case, group loot might be used, and it's up to you to decide when to need or greed, but you still only have one need roll per raid.

Non-Boss Drops, special materials, Rep items et.c.

Items:
On the off chance that an item drops from raid trash mobs that you would really need, you are most likely entitled to roll need on it without using up your boss-drop need roll. However, trash-mob epic drops, tier drops or very good/sought after blues might fall under the boss-drop policy. The raid leader has the final say in these situations.

Other than that, need/greed (Blue BoE that you can and will use) all greed (green BoE) or Disenchanting (BoP) will be the case.

Dolls, scythes and similar items can be needed by those who can use them, and don't already have them. It does not count towards your one need roll, but don't abuse this please!

Special mats:

All forms of dungeon-specific mats should be looted/gathered by those who can and sent to the guildbank. If you need those mats for your own crafting, you can then request them from the bank.
When the bank has a healthy stock of materials, and most of the members who can use the items crafted from those materials are geared up, everyone who can use the mats can keep them and dispose of them as they wish.

Rep items (coins, scarabs, et.c):
Everyone greed, at all times. Raid leader has the option to use "raid rolls" as well.
This also goes for any materials et.c. over the looting threshold, that isn't covered above (green world-drop mats).

Recipes:
Any profession recipe that drops in raids will be treated in the following manner:
Recipes that result in a BOP item will be counted as need roll.
Recipes that result in a BOE item will be given to a long standing active member with the correct skill level to make the items (this benefits the guild as a whole)

We would appreciate greatly if you left any issues/discussions regarding the loot distribution policy outside the Raid or Instance.
In fact, the raid leaders of TOoA will reserve the right to kick you from the raid if such a discussion starts disrupting the run.
You may of course discuss the shortcomings and advantages of our various policies as much as you want, and make improvement suggestions et.c, but please leave it outside the raid chat (and preferably not during the raid in /g either), and take it to these forums instead.

Guild Rule: General Looting Policy (updated) [by Blueghost]

Guild Information:: Guild Rule: General Looting Policy (updated)
Instances and general policy:

Equipment:

Here at the Order of Azeroth, we believe in the good old "need if you really need it" rule as far as equipments are concerned. So, if an equipment above the looting threshold drops, you can roll 'need' if:

- it's better than anything else you have (including what you have in your bank);
- it's something you can actually use (you do not necessarily have to have reached the item's level requirement); and
- there is no one else who has a greater need for that type of equipment (e.g. a balance druid who wants a cloth item with spell/healing bonus can roll need if no mage/warloc/priest 'needs' it).
- If any other consideration applies (e.g. whether a tank can roll on a 'tanking gear' or a priest can roll on a 'spell damage/crit gear'), the relevant party members should discuss the priority in a civilised and mature manner.

Always check how loots should be rolled if you are in a PUG and make sure there is no misunderstanding!

BOP Equipment(s) which no one needs:

If a BOP equipment drops and no one needs it, we will pass it to an enchanter in the group, who will DE it and send the shard/dust to the guild bank. The shards/dusts in the bank will be used by guild members.

If there are no enchanters in the group, then everyone can simply roll greed.

If you're in a PUG, then make sure the group is happy with DE. If you cannot agree on DE, or if there are no enchanters in your PUG, then greed roll will be the norm in most cases; check before you start an into instance with a PUG.

Gems, Essences, Reagents, Recipes, and other good drops:

Until everyone hits Level 80 and gains reasonable pre-raid equipments, the general rule is that everyone should simply roll greed (as is the case with most PUGs).

However, if everyone agrees, these drops can be collected and sent to the Guildbank for use by guild members

If a pattern/recipe drops, and if it is something you can actually learn, you will be entitled to roll 'need' for it.

If you are collecting a reagent for a quest (e.g. paladin quest or a libram quest), you will be entitled to roll 'need'.

If you see one of the Darkmoon Faire cards drop, you will be entitled to roll 'need' if you actually need the trinket you can get by handing in the completed deck.

However, you will NOT be allowed to roll 'need' if you want to sell the drop for profit, or want the drop so that you can craft something which you can sell! (You will be asked to roll 'greed' in those circumstances).

Welcome to the Order of Azeroth [by Blueghost]

Guild Information:: Welcome to the Order of Azeroth
Edit: This document may be a bit dated, as we are now in those end-game raid instances. However, the spirit of this guild is still the same!

Arathes

Welcome to the Order of Azeroth

The Order of Azeroth is an Alliance PvE guild on Quel'Thals, started by two players - Alcyone and Istra - who wanted to turn over a new leaf in WOW and find an alternative to the more conventional raiding guild.

The original idea behind the Order of Azeroth is to build a guild for mature players by focusing on the social element of WOW - we wanted to create a cohesive group of players who are sensible, mature, friendly and helpful. We place our emphasis on helping each other, and progressing together as a guild.

Whilst we do have the desire to one day be in a position to frequent the end-game instances, we do not have any immediate end-game goals. Rather, we wanted to build a team of players who share our ethos and approach to gameplay first before we started working on the end-game instances.

If you are eager and keen to explore the end-game instances as soon as possible, or if you cannot wait until you clad yourself in purple loots, then we are probably not the right guild for you. If, on the other hand, you prefer a more relaxed pace of gameplay and are interested in taking part in building a team with a difference, then perhaps we could be the right guild for you.

If you are interested in joining us, please read the sticky in our "Recruitment" forum first, and then post a thread there.
